17-year-old With Autism Missing in Los Angeles; Family Pleading and Searching

Authorities in Los Angeles are seeking assistance from the public in finding a 17-year-old girl with severe autism, according to a statement released by the family and the Los Angeles Police Department.

Sara Nicole Castillo was last seen by her family on August 9th near the 5400 block of Zelzah Avenue in Encino, as reported by the LAPD missing persons bulletin.

Castillo’s disappearance was discovered at approximately 2 a.m. on Aug. 10 when it was realized that she was no longer in her family’s residence.

According to the police, the 17-year-old sent a message to her father, explaining that she had gone outside to get some fresh air, but had become disoriented and couldn’t find her way back home.

The girl is identified as a Hispanic female who is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs approximately 113 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. Her outfit consisted of a gray floral-patterned shirt paired with gray shorts and pink sandals.

According to the police, Castillo is unfamiliar with the streets of Los Angeles due to being new to the city.
