A tragic incident occurred in Georgia where a teenager has been sentenced to life in prison for the heartbreaking act of fatally shooting a 15-year-old girl in her bedroom during the night.

Tragically, a young girl named Madison Gesswein, aged 15, lost her life in her home in Peachtree City, Ga., on Feb. 21, 2023, according to the Peachtree City Police Department.

Justus Smith, Jacobean Brown, and Yeshua Mathis, all 18, were promptly apprehended in relation to her tragic death.

Authorities in Fayette County announced on Tuesday, July 6, that Brown has been found guilty of the murder.

According to reports from the Journal-Constitution and The Citizen, prosecutors have revealed that Madison had a heated argument with the three defendants the night before the tragic incident occurred. According to Peachtree City Assistant Chief Matt Myers, the three men were present at Madison’s residence on the evening prior to the tragic incident, as reported by The Citizen.

The argument occurred through text messages, which authorities reviewed as part of their investigation, according to the Journal-Constitution and The Citizen.

During Madison’s restful moment, Brown entered her room through the window and used a pistol he had brought along to tragically harm her, as reported by WSB-TV, the Journal-Constitution, and The Citizen.

Early the following day, Madison’s mother discovered her in a distressing state and immediately dialed 911.

Smith and Mathis are set to go on trial in September, as stated in court records reviewed by WSB-TV.

The outlets did not mention if a motive has been announced by authorities, but police had previously stated that the victim was acquainted with her killer and his co-defendants.
