A former pastor in Troup County has been charged with molesting children. He is scheduled to appear in court next month.

The man is identified as Russell Jon Tusing, 44. He is charged with child molestation. Tusing is the lead pastor of Sovereign Grace Church in LaGrange.

LaGrange police say he is guilty of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. The molestation incident happened in June of 2022.

Police say it was reported in February 2024, and Tusing was arrested on March 15, 2024, after a probe.

He is still in the Troup County jail without bond and is due in court on July 12 as reported by AtlantaFirst News.

The pastors of Sovereign Grace had sent Atlanta News First a message earlier that said:

“We are both shocked and grieved by the nature of these charges. Upon learning of the allegations, we immediately suspended Russell Tusing from his duties as pastor. He is not permitted to attend meetings, functions, or gatherings of the church during the pending judicial process and investigation.”
