13 Alleged Crips Gang Members Arrested in Omaha and Lincoln Crackdown

OMAHA, Neb. — Authorities in Nebraska have arrested 13 suspected members of the Crips gang after a lengthy multi-agency investigation linked them to a series of violent crimes in both Omaha and Lincoln.

According to Omaha Police, the suspects are believed to be responsible for murders, gun crimes, and illegal weapons trafficking, among other offenses. Officials say this coordinated operation marks one of the most significant gang takedowns in recent years, targeting high-impact offenders driving violence across the metro area.

Operation Targets Violent Offenders

The arrests come after an 18-month investigation that began in March 2024, focusing on organized gang activity connected to the Crips network in eastern Nebraska.

“It’s more about the quality of these arrests versus the quantity,” said Capt. Kara Hindman of the Omaha Police Department. “You can have people who claim to be gang members but aren’t deeply involved. These arrests focus on key individuals whose removal will significantly impact crime in the city.”

Police believe the arrests will help reduce violent incidents and destabilize organized gang structures in both Omaha and Lincoln.

Shootings Linked to the Group

Authorities connected the suspects to multiple shootings, including a June 2025 incident near 25th and Taylor Streets in Omaha that left one man critically injured.

Two of the suspects, Gregory Bahati (30) and Kavion Wright (23), were also charged in connection with a September shooting in Lincoln, where two men were shot — one fatally — near 11th and O Streets.

“We want these gang members to know that they’re not going to claim a certain block,” Capt. Hindman added. “This is our city and our community, and we want to make it a safe place for our children and the elderly.”

Investigation and Public Safety Impact

Detectives spent countless hours conducting surveillance, gathering intelligence, and coordinating with prosecutors to secure the arrests. Officials emphasized that many victims involved in these incidents had no gang affiliation, underscoring the threat such organized violence poses to innocent residents.

The Omaha Police Department continues to collaborate with Lincoln Police, the U.S. Marshals Service, and federal prosecutors to dismantle gang networks and prevent retaliation.

Authorities expect that removing these core members from the streets will lead to a notable decrease in gun violence and street-level intimidation across the metro.
