TV Line has reported that Tom Ellis’ contract is not officially authorized for Lucifer Season 6. Negotiations over the actor’s contract have reached a standstill after Ellis rejected the latest offer for Warner Bros. If the two sides can’t come to an agreement, a possible Season 6 is put by this arrangement dispute in danger.
Will Lucifer Season 6 be Happen?
Can it be Lucifer really coming to an end, or will be the Fox flipped Netflix play in for one more surprise rescue? Back in June of 2019, Netflix revived Lucifer to get a fifth and final season, much to the disappointment of Lucifans, but now, that decision could have postponed prior to Season 5 has even premiered!
Lucifer buffs are no strangers on the back-and-forth game, because this actually isn’t the first time that they believed the series was ending. Lucifer initially aired on Fox and was cancelled after its third period at 2018. Not long afterwards, Netflix swooped in to save the show, giving it a nod 4 about the site. Only a month after the season premiered, Netflix announced plans to end the show.
Lucifer Season 6 Release Date Notification
You just can not keep a good devil down, though! Back in February, TVLine noted that Netflix had decided it wasn’t yet prepared to part ways with Lucifer after all that the streaming service had entered into discussions with Warner Bros. to expand the series another season.
Netflix’s rumoured interest in keeping Lucifer around was great, but we weren’t getting our hopes up just yet — that is, until news broke that Lucifer showrunners Ildy Modrovich along with Joe Henderson were also willing to stay on board for a possible Season 6. They’ve reportedly signed new deals with Warner Bros. that could keep them for a different season.
Lucifer Season 6 Cast and Plot
As long following the accounts of Modrovich and Henderson’s extended deals, series lead Tom Ellis, that performs Lucifer Morningstar himself, was stated to have finalized an expansion of his contract in expectation of a potential pick-up. Now, things seem to be snowballing in favour of a Season 6 renewal, and it is beginning to look a whole lot more probable the Lucifer will enjoy a third chance at life.
1 way or another, there are a few things to take into account when weighing whether Season 6 could be a fantastic move for the collection, while we wait to come in. While Tom Ellis has signed back for another year, there’s no word on if co-star Lauren German and also the remainder of the cast members could stay on for another season.
The Returning cast from Season 5
Besides Ellis and German, Rachael Harris, D.B. Woodside, Aimee Garcia, Kevin Alejandro, and Lesley-Ann Brandt are currently show regulars, and it’s reasonable to state that over the decades they have become fairly integrated into the DNA of this set. While some of them might have existing contracts that could carry them through Season 6, they not all are guaranteed to go back.
If some of them choose to pass to the supply of a Season 6, that might be a deal-breaker for a number of fans. After all, Chloe Decker’s (German) slow-burn romance with Lucifer was only starting to pay off in the Season 4 finale. We’re all constantly curious to see how it plays out in the upcoming fifth season, but what lovers certainly don’t want to see is her departure from the show, particularly if it means leaving Lucifer behind to carry on without her.
Needless to say, there’s now no evidence suggesting any of those above cast members wouldn’t be willing or able to go back for a sixth season, however, Lucifer fans have been put through enough to not take anything for granted.
Lucifer Season 6 News and Updates
The biggest piece of good news in all of this — apart from the renewal itself — is that production on Season 5 is underway since these discussions are currently occurring. That means that when the series is renewed although not all the actors agree to return, the authors will have time to craft endings for almost any characters who won’t appear in the season that is possible.
In the end, nothing is worse than showing up to get a season and having to hear a few vague explanation for why we will not be visiting a character ever again.
one. We don’t yet understand where the story is still currently going in Season 5, but we can hope the showrunners had begun to pivot the storyline towards the final destination point of each character.
Season 6 Expectations
If Season 5 finishes with a beautiful finale that pays tribute to the show’s themes, the character’s journeys, and the dedicated fandom that made it happen, would not it feel only a little bit off to pick back up with Season 6, just like we had not just watched everything had been supposed to be the end of the street?
That is not to say this can not be accomplished. One only has to consider Supernatural, which creator Eric Kripke meant to just run for five seasons, so to find that what might have originally been thought to be a series finale could, in the very long term, prove to simply be the end of one chapter and the beginning of a brand new one. And who knows, maybe this is really a sign that Lucifer can be destined to conduct the following 10 seasons!
However, if Season 5 does prove to become Lucifer’s past, we have a lot to look forward to, including a musical event, a noir episode set at a 1940s alternative world, and the debut of God himself!
Now, we won’t know until we understand if Netflix and Warner Bros. will be able to earn Season 6 happen, and let us be real, we love Lucifer sufficient to forgive them for putting us through the cancellation wringer double, no matter how this thing pans out.
The first four seasons of Lucifer are currently streaming on Netflix.
