It is official — Warner Bros. is developing a sequel to the superhero action film Aquaman, together with James Wan appearing likely to return as director. That is very surprising, considering it is the highest-grossing DC picture of all time (even topping The Dark Knight Rises, at what you COULD call a little bit of a”sea change”), but hey — always better to understand.
Here’s everything you want to learn about the Aquaman 2.
When will Aquaman 2 be released?
The sequel is currently scheduled to be published on 16th December 2022. With filming set to begin next year, Aquaman 2 would hit cinemas four years after the first movie Aquaman — though that may all change.
“That’s not filming next year .”
What happened in Aquaman?
Set some time after 2017’s Justice League, Aquaman watched Arthur effort to claim his destiny from his Orm as the King of Atlantis.
Hell-bent on sparking a war between those above and below Orm enjoyed the help of Black Manta to seal his place above the other championships that were submerged. The hope, if his half-brother is, usurped by Arthur, always reluctant to reevaluate his obligation as the King. Doing so meant obtaining the Trident of Atlan, a historical relic that can only be summoned from the legitimate king of the sea. With it, Arthur was able to rally the support of all forces threatening the overworld and turn them from Orm.
However, in a post-credits scene, a recovering Black Manta swore his revenge, so we doubt that this is the last we have heard of that narrative…
When will a trailer be released?
We won’t find a trailer until closer to the movie’s actual release, Warner Bros. may opt to debut it in San Diego Comic-Con as was the situation for the first Aquaman. In any case, it’ll probably have to be after WB and DC declare the complete name (which might not be Aquaman two if history’s any indication).
