It was this past October that we finally got to see Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot trailer. Now, we got to hear that Sony Pictures has pushed back the release of this anticipated superhero movie.
The action-adventure with sci-fi elements is based on the Valiant Comics graphic novel of the same name. Ray Garrison, aka Bloodshot, has made his fans wait for 30 excruciating years to see him on the big screen. And now, they have to wait nearly one more month to see Diesel as the character. The first trailer gave fans a pretty good idea of what to expect early next year.
Bloodshot tells the story of a former soldier, Ray Garrison (portrayed by Vin Diesel), who was killed and then brought back to life through the use of technological upgrades. Garrison’s was filled with billions of nanobots that allowed him to be the perfect soldier. He could heal from injuries, shapeshift and interact with technology in various ways. Vin Diesel has been hyping the project for months now. We are close to seeing what the big-screen adaptation is going to bring on the table. Sony Pictures was the first to announce the new Bloodshot release date.
Bloodshot was originally supposed to hit theaters on February 21st, 2020. Now, it will open on March 13th, 2020. Which brings it closer to Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious 9. Sony did not give a reasoning behind the release date shift.
Sony has not provided any reasoning behind the release date shift, but March is the same month that Universal’s Godzilla vs. Kong was originally supposed to open in theaters. This makes more room for bloodshot to spread its wings out and possibly dominate the box office for a bit longer. Although, that depends on Valiant Comic Book fans respond positively to the movie.
In addition to the date release, it has also been announced that Valiant is pairing with Blowfish Studios for several video games based on the Valiant Comic Brand. Bloodshot is part of the deal. DMG Entertainment, Valiant’s parent company, founder and CEO Dan Mintz had this to say in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to bring Valiant’s characters back into the video game industry and allow fans to play as their favorite superheroes. Translating these characters and stories to video games could not come at a more exciting time as we introduce the world to the Valiant Universe on the big screen with the Bloodshot release. These games are poised to become further proof of these characters’ immense potential as anchors in pop culture.”
Details of the game were not immediately available. It is quite unclear which platform they are being developed for. However, one can easily predict some mobile games on the horizon with the possibility of hitting the Xbox or PlayStation platforms later on. For now, we will just have to wait and see what Valiant and Blowfish are up to. But one can expect more information on the video game side of things shortly.
