The Rookie: Season 3 Updates – ABC’s ‘The Rookie’ is a police procedural drama with some comedy that follows John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) the oldest rookie at the LAPD. Season 2 finished airing on ABC in the United States with the finale that aired on Sunday, May 10.
In the UK, Season 2 has just begun airing on Sky Witness. As of right now, the network has not confirmed if there will be a Season 3 of the series. Based on the times when the first two seasons were announced — should there be a Season 3, fans should expect to find out in May 2020 or the end of this year.

The comedy-drama stars Fillion as a small-town guy who, after a life-changing experience, decides to pursue his dream of being an LAPD officer. And now he’s the oldest rookie on the force, and the brass thinks he’s just having a midlife crisis. The cast also includes Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, Titus Makin, Afton Williamson, and Eric Winter.
The second season of The Rookie averaged a 0.64 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.32 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s a 12% decrease in the demo and a 4% increase in overall viewership. Compared to other ABC scripted series, The Rookie has been a middle-of-the-road performer.

Season 2 ended with John Nolan dealing with the fact that he was set up by Nick Armstrong (Harold Perrineau) and is facing trouble with the law. This was a cliffhanger ending that had fans hoping for a Season 3.
