The Australian-New Zealand television series The New Legends of Monkey Season 2 is set to come back to the screens as the second season is scheduled to release on Netflix on August 7, 2020. The first season of the series became a favorite with the children and adults alike and now fans are eagerly waiting to see the heroic acts of Monkey King Sun Wukong.
The New Legends of Monkey was inspired by Monkey, a Japanese production from the 1970s and 1980s. The Japanese production, in turn, was based on the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West by Wu Cheng’en.
Season 1 Plot:
The first season follows the brave journey of Tripitaka (played by Luciane Buchanan) in the quest to find and set free the Monkey King named Sun Wukong. Sun has been held captive in a prison for nearly 500 years, by his enemies. In these intervening years, Earth has come under the total domination of the demons who oppress, enslave, torture people at will.
The gods too are too afraid of them to act and are themselves in hiding. Tripitaka undertakes the journey and after a series of harrowing adventures, in which she more than once comes very close to facing death, is finally able to find and set free the Monkey King by the end of the season.
The two then set to another journey, this time together, in order to retrieve the lost scrolls. The scrolls are the sources to unlimited powers which once achieved, would help them overthrow all the demons from the face of the Earth.
The second season of course guarantees further adventures pertaining to the finding of the lost scrolls, the struggle to retain them, and ultimately, a possible battle between the good and the evil forces.
Cast Of Season 2:
The Monkey King has been played by Chai Hansen, with Luciane Buchanan playing the role of Tripitaka. Josh Thomson and Emilie Cocquerel appear in two other important roles.
