Fans its the time to rejoice! The Last Kingdom is back for season four. This British historical drama is based on Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories novel series.
The official Twitter handle of the show confirmed the show’s renewal back in December 2018.
Netflix confirmed the filming of ten episodes for the same around April 2019. The Instagram page posted an invite to fans in July 2019, “join Uhtred next year on Netflix as the battle continues”.
The new season is thus predicted to release in 2020.
About The Last Kingdom
The show is filmed in Hungary. The story is set in the late 9th century AD. Our fictional protagonist Uhtred is captured and raised by enemies.
The premise of the show is Uhtred’s choice between a kingdom of his ancestry and the people who have raised him. His loyalties are constantly tested throughout the show.
Each season of the show is based on two books. Fans have already started pouring in their theories from the next books for the coming season.
The cast and plot:
In the coming season, the story is predicted to jump a decade. Fans may get to see many new actors. All will be Uhtred’s children who have grown in the books.
Alexander Dreymon will be back playing Uhtred of Bebbanburg. Ian Hart (Father Beocca), Toby Regbo (Aethelred), Emily Cox (Brida), Timothy Innes (Kind Edward), Eliza Butterworth (Aelswith), Mark Rowley (Finan), Millie Brady (Aethelflaed), Magnus Bruun (Cnut) and Jeppe Beck Laursen (Hasten) are some other members of the cast.
Netflix has also confirmed “Aethelred’s new love conquest” as Stefanie Martini.
