The Last Kingdom is a popular British historical fiction Television series based on Bernard Cornwell’s ” The Saxon Stories” series of novels. The first series of eight episodes premiered on 10th October.

However, that series rose to prominence in 2017, co-produced by Netflix after that exit of BBC America. Thus Netflix became that sole producer of the third series of ten episodes and earlier this month the series was renewed for a fourth season and fans couldn’t be more excited!

Set in that 9th Century AD, that series follows events of the two books each season ( Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories). As we already know from the previous seasons that the story depicts Uhtred, the son of Uhtred, a Saxon boy who was brought up by the Danes after they capture him and decide to raise him to become a Dane.

However, Uhtred later betrays them and the Danes conclude that he was the murderer of his adoptive father. Needless to say, a fight was inevitable.

The filming of the 4th season commenced on the 11th April 2019. Thus season four depicts events from The Pagan Lord, published in 2013 and skips a decade.

The Last Kingdom’s official Twitter account shared a few pictures of the cast shooting in Budapest and the fans can no longer wait to see what season four holds.

Rumor has it that following the death of Alfred, that alliance between the two kingdoms is tainted and Uhtred believes this to be an amazing opportunity to challenge his Uncle Aelfric and take back his ancestral home.

Moreover, we expect to see Uhtred having a family of his own who are soon to become a warrior like their father.

The Last Kingdom Season 4 Cast

With the season skipping a decade it is only obvious that we see new faces! New cast members of season 4 include Stefanie Martini playing Eadith Aethelred’s new love conquest and right -hand man Eardwulf played by Jamie Blackley.
