If you like a fantastic teenager rom-com, then chances are you fell head over heels in love with Netflix’s 2018 film The Kissing Booth, which starred Joey King as Elle, who found herself breaking the cardinal principle of friendship: she fell for her very best friend’s brother. The premise alone is enough to make your inner adolescent angst fill with glee, but given that it has been a year and a half since the film came out, it’s just natural to impatiently wonder when The Kissing Booth two comes out on Netflix.
Although a teaser for The Kissing Booth sequel was released by the streaming service back in February 2019 (on Valentine’s Day, no less) it did not come with an official release date. And here we a year later none the wiser.
There’s one prominent clue that the film’s debut is coming shortly. Back in August of 2019, King affirmed that filming for The Kissing Booth two had officially wrapped in South Africa. “A heap of clothing, 5 deflated birthday balloons, a coated tattoo, a sock and also my last day since Elle Evans in South Africa,” King posted on Twitter along with a selfie. “Thank you for the memories”
That will give the filmmakers and Netflix sufficient time to get everything sorted for a premiere sometime in 2020 — we’re unsure Kissing Booth lovers could stand to wait until 2021. Given that its predecessor came from the May of 2018, that’s a likely premiere spot for number two, but do not count out a June or July date.

For her role, however, King is excited for lovers to find the most recent installment in her personality Elle’s journey. But — as you likely suspect — it will not be smooth sailing between Elle and Noah (Jacob Elordi) today that they’ve found themselves in a long-distance relationship. (Thank you a whole lot, Harvard!) “You’ll get to see a lot of ups and downs, not just between Noah and Elle, but you are going to see what’s going on between Lee and Elle along with Lee and his girlfriend, and plenty happening in Harvard,” King informed Refinery29.com in a March 2019 interview.
That surely seems like trouble in paradise. But possible heartbreak and all, The Kissing Booth 2 can not get here soon enough.
