Our leading lady Elisabeth Moss, known as June/Offred, is about to take a new role in the highly anticipated season four. In season one, Moss starred as the show’s main character and executive producer for the last three seasons.
So, its time to add more titles as she is being allowed to direct the third episode of the upcoming season.
“I am thrilled to be given this opportunity by my partners Bruce and Warren and to have the support of all of our producers,” Moss said when interviewed.
“It means so much to me and I do not take the responsibility lightly. Leading and executive producing this show the past 3 years has been such a joy and I’ve had the incredible gift of learning so much from the directors we’ve had on this show.
“My only hurdle may be working with the lead actress who I hear can be incredibly demanding. Wish me luck,” Moss said jokingly.
Handmaid’s showrunner and executive producer Bruce Miller echoed her sentiment, adding that he felt ‘lucky’ that Moss accepted to take the lead.
“As an executive producer on the show, she has fostered a supportive environment that allows artists to do their best work,” he said.
“Elisabeth herself is now benefiting from this incredibly generous and ambitious atmosphere she helped create. She is an extraordinary talent, a badass, a tireless worker I’m certain she will slay her directing debut.”
After season three’s cliffhanger showdown, viewers of the show were left uncertain about the fate of their beloved protagonist. Offred was pulled to shelter by fellow handmaids Janine, Alma, and Brianna.
The news of Moss’s directional debut has made us hanging on the edge of our seats.
We’ll need to wait a little longer until the unsung heroes of Gilead return to our screens.
