The podcast was widely popular, featuring the voices of Debra Newell and her family. The podcast has been downloaded for over 50 million times. So, Netflix decided to convert the podcast into a show.
The second season of the show is titled Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story. The role of the protagonist (Betty Broderick) is played by Amanda Peet. Betty Broderick is a woman with strong catholic values. She had strict parents and was married to Daniel Broderick.
Even after being a perfect housewife and mother to four kids, her marriage came to an end abruptly in a tragic manner.

In the second season of the series, we’ll see Emily Bergl playing Marie Stewart. She is Betty’s close friend who helps and comforts her following her divorce with Dan.
The story will take a turn when the anxiety of Betty takes over and she murders her husband (Dan) and his new wife (Linda). After the assassination of her ex and his new wife, she serves time in prison.
Betty Broderick’s children are all grown up. They are settled and have a family of their own, while their mother is still in prison.
