Takeshi Kovacs is back, and he’s ready to quit chasing his ghosts. The former soldier turned investigator returns in the next season of Netflix’s Altered Carbon, wearing still another body. After Joel Kinnaman played the character originally depicted by Will Yun Lee, Anthony Mackie is taking over as Takeshi Kovacs in Modified Carbon season two. “This is a ghost story,” Mackie narrates as Takeshi Kovacs, dropping his voice down an octave and including a growl to his or her delivery. “Technology has conquered death… But if you pursue after your ghosts, then you just may become one.”
The teaser includes flashes of fresh footage of the second season, which yields to Netflix this past month, two years following the Laeta Kalogridis-created sci-fi show first premiered on the streaming agency in February 2018. But it’s very much a teaser, without a lot of details revealed about the storyline of Modified Carbon season two. We do know the next season features an additional cast-shuffling body-swap plot, with the Avengers: Endgame celebrity becoming the brand new body for Takeshi Kovacs, the lone surviving soldier in a group of elite interstellar warriors who were tasked with solving his murder in year 1.
The second season will also comprise Simone Missick as Trepp, Dina Shihabi as Dig 301, Torbin Liebrecht as Colonel Ivan Carerra, James Saito as Tanaseda Hideki, Renee Elise Goldsberry as Quellcrist Falconer and Chris Conner as Poe.
