Sweet Magnolias is a small-town romance web series Based on a series of books by Sherryl Woods. Streaming on Netflix, it promises Southern comfort in the appearance of a trio of middle-aged women.
They are best friends since childhood who are dealing with divorce, moody children, and the promise of new love.
The season ends with a cliffhanger. But there are some tittle-tattles which suggest that the show will not return for season 2. It’s almost impossible to imagine, right. So what’s up?
Everyone is eager to return for a second season.
Well, on the one side where fanatics are losing hopes of the show to be renewed on the other the cast members of the string are very excited.
Not only this but also they have spoken out about their hopes for renewal.
Headley told in an interview, “I hope the world permits us to have a Season 2.”
And Zoey 101 alum Jamie Lynn-Spears, who plays Bill’s current fiancee Noreen, admitted, saying she has her “fingers crossed.”
“[The finale] leaves a lot of doors open, and positively we’ll have a season 2 to figure out where it all drives us because I would be so delighted to see where Noreen goes in season 2,” she added.
Well, Showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson also has something to say. In her words, “I would love to continue this story because I love the characters. I love our cast and crew.”
And here is Anneliese Judge, who performs Annie Sullivan, daughter of Dana Sue (Elliott), says she sees many directions where the show can go.
“The opportunities, I feel like, are endless,” she says, “and I’m so eager to chase those and see wherever Sweet Magnolias takes me.”
The series has yet to be renewed.
The show had debuted on May 19. If we keenly observe the pattern of Netflix, the giant streaming platform has a proven track record of waiting several weeks after a season.
Some of the news reports suggest that we may get an announcement in July. But as there is no official announcement by the makers, we suggest waiting for a little.
Novels and Seasons
Woods, the author behind the unique books, confirmed on Twitter that the maximum of the cloth for Season 1 comes from the first three books in the series.
Since there are eleven books total, there’s no shortage of fabric for the showrunners to weave in.
