Shooting At Halloween Party In Texas Leaves 1 Dead, 9 Injured


Last night One person was killed and nine people were injured in a shooting at a Halloween party in Texarkana, Texas, according to the Texarkana Police Department.

Police answered to reports of a shootout at Octavia’s Activity Center in the 2300 block of Texas Boulevard shortly before midnight, finding “a large number of people fleeing the building and many of them suffering inside the building from gunshot wounds,” according to an earlier statement on Facebook from the Police Department of Texarkana. About 180 miles east of Dallas sits Texarkana.


A suspect surrendered to police on Sunday after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to a later Facebook post by the police department. According to the post, he was charged with felony aggravated assault, and further charges are anticipated to be brought Monday.

A few hundred individuals were inside the venue at the time of the incident, according to authorities.

Injured people were taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center and Christus St. Michael Hospital, according to official statement.

According to authorities, a 20-year-old guy died shortly after being taken to the hospital. His identity is being kept hidden until his family is told.

According to officers, the injuries of the remaining nine victims do not appear to be life-threatening.

The perpetrator is suspected of fleeing the area in an unidentified car.

“While the reason is still unknown, preliminary evidence suggests it may (have) been the outcome of some sort of disruption among some of the partygoers,” police have confirmed.
