Shazam is not so quite a popular DC superhero. Billy Batson, a teenager turns into Shazam after getting the powers of the superhero.
So for the characters’ low popularity, it could not make much at the box-office compared to other superhero movies despite good movie reviews.
It could make only 364 million dollars which are low but quite enough for the franchise to think of the sequel.
Cast and crew of the sequel :
Henry Gayden is bagged in once again to write the screenplay. David F. Sandberg and Peter Safran are also in talks of returning.
The main leads Zachary Levi will return as cape clad superhero while Asher Angel will be returning to the teenage role of Billy Batson.
Coming to villains Black Adam played famous Dwayne Johnson might not appear in the sequel as he is busy with his solo film while a new villain Master Mind might join hands with Dr. Sivanna played by Mark Strong to make all possible attacks against Shazam.
While the family being the core central part of the movie the team will be back with the same artists. They include Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Jovan Armand as Pedro, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield Pena, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, and Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley and their Superhero personas played by Adam Brody, Michelle Borth, Ross Butler, DJ Cotrona, and Meagan Good.
Sequel release date :
The second installment of Shazam will start it’s shooting in the summer of 2020 making the movie set to lit the theatres in April of 2022. By that time many of the superhero movies are in store even for Marvel.
So it is going to be a fun feast and as well as a fan feast ensuring immense action sequences for the audience. So fans must wait for two years more for the release of this Sequel.
