We are heading back to Moordale Secondary School earlier than you would think! Sex Education has been a major hit for Netflix since the British series sailed back in 2019. The series follows protagonist Otis (Asa Butterfield), a high schooler whose mom, Jean (Gillian Anderson), is a sex therapist. Although Otis is a bit awkward and dorky, he soon becomes popular when he begins giving love and sex advice to his classmates.
The second installment of Sex Education proves to be more complicated for Otis as he comes to terms with his feelings for Maeve (Emma Mackey) and contains a few ups and downs with his very best buddy Eric (Ncuti Gatwa).
The personalities in Sex Education are so enjoyable, complex, and relatable, it’s hard not to become obsessed once you start viewing. And Sex Education season 3 is on its way.
When Is Sex Education Season 3 Coming Out?
While we do not have the exact release date for Sex Education season 3, we have only got confirmation it is going to debut at a certain stage in 2021. According to a shareholder letter released by Netflix on April 20, the comedy series is on the lineup of returning shows for the rear half of this year. How exciting!
Netflix also verified a handful of additional shows will be returning this year, writing:
We expect paid membership expansion will re-accelerate in the next half of 2021 as we dive into a very powerful back half masterpiece together with the yield of big hits like Sex Education, The Witcher, La Casa de Papel (aka Cash Heist), and You, as well as an exciting array of first films such as the finale to The Kissing Booth trilogy and large scale, star-driven features like Red Notice (starring Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds) and Do Not Look Up (with an all-star cast like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Timothée Chalamet, and Meryl Streep).
Sex Education season 2 ends on a cliffhanger for Otis and Maeve, so I’m desperate to find out what happens alongside them. In case you forgot, Otis finally works up the courage to tell Maeve how he feels, but when he heads into her place she is not home. Before leaving, Otis informs Maeve’s neighbour Isaac, that also has feelings for her, to tell her to check her voicemail.
Of course, Otis leaves a cute message for Maeve to hear, but sadly, she never will. Isaac decides to delete the voicemail from her telephone, and so it looks like Sex Education season 3 will involve another love triangle for Otis and Maeve.
We’ll keep you updated once we get the confirmed release date for Sex Education season 3. For now, I am just thrilled to hear it’s going to be hitting Netflix in the coming months!
