The first instalment Joker came late in 2019 and became an instant hit of the year. The movie made a huge collection at the box office. After this whopping success, it is evident to bring its sequel. If reports are to be believed, Warner Bros. is in talks with Todd Philips to direct the movie. Also, Joaquin Phoenix is being approached to once again portray Joker in the Joker 2.
Release Date of Second Installment of Joker
As already stated that Joker 2 is in works. However, the makers of the film haven’t officially dropped any concrete news on the release date. Also, the coronavirus pandemic has taken over the entire world, making an indefinite halt in the productions worldwide including that of Joker 2. So even if reports are to be believed that the script of Joker 2 has been prepared, it will probably be out by late 2021.
Overview of Joker’s first part
The movie is based on the original tale of Joker – one of the most iconic villains in comic book history. The story follows about a man named Arthur Fleck, who isn’t happy with his life and struggles to make money. By working as a part-time clown and dealing with the hard times, he also suffers from a condition that causes him to break into uncontrollable laughter. He aspired to be a stand-up comedian and dreaming big. However, he is caught in between all of this, which slowly makes him lose his grip on sanity.
Joaquin Phoenix has delivered an outstanding performance in the titular role. He has completely immersed himself in his performance and created his unique version of the villain.
Cast and the question Will Joaquin Phoenix return?
There is no news regarding the confirmed cast of the sequel. However, it is quite evident that the studio will approach Phoenix, given his performance being tipped for an Oscar nomination. Also, Zazie Beetz will return as Sophie, the Joker’s neighbour after it has been confirmed by Philips that Joker didn’t kill her.
Plot and Trailer
The final scene of Joker showed Arthur locked up in Arkham State Hospital, after the riots in the Gotham City. Also, he was seen dancing down the corridor of the hospital, leaving red footprints. So there is, of course, a chance of him to be broken out of the hospital.
We could also see the sequel, examining Arthur’s relationship with his step-brother Bruce Wayne. Also as the theme of the movie Joker was centred around Arthur transitioning himself from a normal person into a full-on killer. So it will be exciting to see what more the sequel will offer us.
The trailer of Joker 2, it hasn’t been released for now. We will probably have to wait for quite some time
