Resident Evil 3 Remake Updates: The Resident Evil 3 remake gave the character Carlos a much more bigger gameplay role, but now his story sections kill the momentum of Jill’s progression arsenal ad the inventory.
Now, despite being a controversial entry in the series especially as a remake of Resident Evil 3 gets a lot of things right. The game-lay is fun, its characters are very much likeable, and the story is also much more entertaining, but the Resident Evil 3’s decision to give Carlos more of the playtime than the original game now ends up harming their progression system ‘s momentum.
Carlos Sections kills its sense of progression
The players of the game have argued that the remake of the third game changes miss what was beloved about the original one. Resident Evil 3 Nemesis on the PlayStation was then more action-focused than the first and the second part of the game. But, the remake takes that focus a step further, going full action-horror.
One of the biggest problems with the Resident Evil 3 is how it incorporates Carlos Oliveira as a playable character. In the Resident Evil Nemesis, Carlos had a brief playable segment after Jill Valentine was infected, now searching for a cure for her in the hospital.
Racoon City Police section over to Carlos
The remake of the game includes this sequence, but then it also hands the original’s Racoon City Police section over to Carlos. In the theory, more of Carlos is not inherently a bad thing, but this first section’s timing feels more like an unwanted interruption.
The pacing of the third part of the game begins well, with what is essentially a series of quick-time events being relieved by the Racoon City streets, one of the game’s most open areas.
Now, this is then followed by the more linear substation, then a fully mostly linear Nemesis chase, and then another, even more, linear Nemesis chase, relieved once again by the most open sewer section from the game.
