Pui Pui Molcar Anime: an Extremely Cute Guinea Pig Car World Through Stop-motion Animation!

This unique short series by Shin-Ei Animation titled Pui Pui Molcar anime is just extremely kawaii.

This series of stop-motion films from Kinder TV‘s kid’s variety show is constructed with just a combination of felted objects, toys, plus live-action components. Though it is not quite what you’d call an anime, it’s been dubbed the finest anime in Winter 2021.


The show is now accessible on Netflix in the United States, and it’s a unique but enjoyable experience that you can just devour in about a half-hour.

Molcar is a combination of the Japanese words “molmot”, which means guinea pig, and “car.” Now the core premise of the series appears self-explanatory, namely that Pui Pui Molcar anime is all about guinea pigs who also are cars.

People use them for transportation, but these animal vehicles, which run on carrots instead of gasoline or electricity, have their own ideas.

Tomoki Misato directed Pui Pui Molcar, a stop-motion animation that received the Grand Prix at the Paris International Fantastic Film Festival (PIFFF) as well as numerous other prizes in Japan and overseas for his film My Little Goat, which was released in 2018.

Following the success of Pui Pui Molcar, director Tomoki Misato has recently launched a new production company with Wit Studio, so probably expect further stop-motion anime from him in the ahead.

The anime was created by director Misato in collaboration with Shin-Ei Animation, who are recognized for such masterpieces as Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan. The word “Pui Pui” in the title is a Japanese expression for the sound made by guinea pigs.

The sweetness of the molars, as well as the lively camera work with the ups and downs of the tale, have been mentioned as strengths of the anime by Famitsu’s Hakuna Kobayashi, who speculates that this turns into a high standard of perfection that makes the anime successful.

Choco, on the other hand, really does have a refreshing and sweet demeanor, but she is also robust and fully able. She is well-mannered and fashion-conscious. Her ambition is to become the world’s leading luxury molcar. Teddy, on the other hand, consumes everything and is constantly on the move.

She is tomboyish and brave, and also a huge troublemaker whose bizarre conduct makes everyone around her fearful.
