Pedestrian Killed In Accident With Box Truck In Ithaca


Ithaca police have reported a deadly motor vehicle collision between a commercial box truck and a pedestrian. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the 700 block of Ithaca’s South Meadow Street shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Friday.

It was established that the pedestrian was struck by a commercial box truck. However, life-saving attempts proved ineffective. The name of the dead individual will not be publicized, and no fines have been issued as of yet, according to the Ithaca Police Department.

Bang’s Ambulance, Ithaca Fire Department, Ithaca Police Traffic Reconstruction Team, Ithaca Police Investigations Division, and NY State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit all helped at the incident. For a few hours, the area was blocked.

According to a news statement from the police department, life-saving procedures were unsuccessful.

At this time, no tickets have been issued, but the deceased’s and driver’s identities have not been revealed.
