Oregon Reports 50 New Covid-19 Deaths, 862 New Cases

50 New Covid Cases in Oregon

On Wednesday, the OHA recorded 50 additional COVID-19 fatalities and 862 new cases.

The state presently has 5,116 deaths and 387,485 positive cases.

While OHA reported fewer daily cases and hospitalizations, mortality increased.

The number of new cases fell by 2.4% from Monday, November 15 to Sunday, November 21. During that period, new hospitalizations fell by 25%.

The positive rate fell from 6.5 to 6%. But OHA stated 214 people died, up from 183.

But it stated certain fatalities between May and August were recorded late owing to a computer error.

Between Nov. 14 and 20, OHA reported 1,672 breakthrough cases or 28.5% of all cases. A breakthrough case occurs in a fully vaccinated person.

The OHA found that of the 5,875 new cases, 71.5 percent were unvaccinated.

So far, 4.4% of vaccination breakout cases have been hospitalized and 1.2% have been fatal.

“The average age of those who died was 81,” the OHA said.

Currently, 391 patients are being treated with COVID-19 in Oregon hospitals, down 13 from Tuesday. 97 patients are in an intensive care unit, five more than Tuesday.

Only 7% of 681 adult ICU beds are available. OHA reports 8% availability of non-ICU adult beds.

2650,699 Oregonians have finished a vaccination series.
