Netflix’s Lucifer Season 5 Release Date and Every Recent Update

The fans did it! Thanks to their ruthless online campaigns, Lucifer will be back for season 5 this year. Sadly it will also be the last we see of our dear old devil.

However, in other news, the final season will be split into two. Read on to know about cast reaction for the final season, why it is the final season and what to expect.

Lucifer is a renewed show. It wasn’t intended to be released anymore. Somehow this cancelled series was brought back after three seasons the previous year. Most of the credit to that goes to massive online fan campaigning.

Earlier, Netflix never actually streamed the show. It is said that the massive popularity of the show internationally is what convinced Netflix.

At the beginning of 2020, the earlier seasons of Lucifer were added to Netflix. Although not all three seasons are available to stream season 4 was premiered exclusively on Netflix all around on May 8th, 2019.

The premiere has garnered massive positive reactions the minute it arrived. TVTime, a show tracker, reported its binge-watchers to be skyrocketing to number 1 leaving Game of Thrones far behind. This is a record.

What to expect from season 5 of Lucifer

Caution: spoiler territory

For the uninitiated, Netflix produced an amazing recap of seasons 1-3 being narrated by Tom Ellis.

In the finale of season 3(episode 10 – “Who’s da New King of Hell?”) Lucifer unwillingly returns to Hell in an attempt to save the earth and Dr. Linda and Amenediel’s newborn.

Will Eve be back in the new season?

Although we said goodbye to Eve in season 4 fans are still hoping she might make a return for a twist.

Will Lucifer return from Hell?

It is hard to say as this time around Lucifer will have to find a replacement to be back.

How many episodes will be there in season 5?

Originally supposed to be 10, the series has now been expanded to 16 episodes. It has been confirmed that the final season will be split into two parts. This will increase the hype and anticipation among the fans.

Release of part 1:

Season 5’s part one will drop around summer 2020. Meanwhile, the second half may make an appearance around the end of 2020.

Why is there no season 6?

To state simply, the story has now reached its end. It would be unnecessary to stretch it just for the sake of it.

According to Joe Henderson, “Honestly, we’re telling our ending with season 5. We love all the support, but right now, I’d say time is better spent getting ready for a fitting ending to our characters’ journeys.”
