The roots of the plot of a potential third season can be traced back to the first season when the producer first came across the idea of plotting season one of this science fiction Netflix reimagining.
In an interview with the producers, Kevin Burns and the casting crew, it was revealed that they were watching the old episode of the series and episode 1’s famous line ” Hello stranger ” caught their attention. In that particular episode, the Robinson family had encountered a famous astronaut named Jimmy Hapgood( played by Warren Oates) who disappeared on a mission to Saturn.
Thus John and Maureen Robinson ponder upon the idea that Hapgood could take their kids back to earth. However, the mere idea of separating themselves from their kids made them somewhat uneasy but they also realized that it might turn out to be a better decision for the family and the well being of their kids.
