Fast and Furious: Spy Racer is one of the most awaited American Animated web television series based on the film series of Fast and Furious directed by Gary Scott Thompson. It is set to premiere on Netflix on the 26th of December 2019.
This high octave animated series depicts the story of a government agency that recruits a teenage driver Tony Toretto and his thrill-seeking friends to infiltrate a criminal street racing circuit as undercover spies. Universal Pictures and Dream Work Animation have released brief first looks at what to expect from this franchise of blockbuster car and action series. The teaser trailer depicts two animated cars racing through what appears to be Los Angeles River, giving us major throwback.
Moreover, it shows Dominic Toretto’s teenage cousin, Tony to be the protagonist. Diesel in an interview shared with the audience how the project was initiated stating, ” when presented with the idea to do an animated series, I was like ‘Huh? Quickly I realized what a brilliant way to celebrate the core themes of Fast and Furious saga and to do so for the youngest of our families because at the end of the day Fast and Furious is synonymous with family”, leaving the crows wild with applause.
The series is executive produced by Diesel, Neal H Hedrick, who also serves as showrunners. Spy Racers features the voices of Camille Ramsey as SH1FT3R underground racer Layla Gray, Luke Youngblood as 13-year-old tech genius, Frostee Benson, Charlet Chung as artist and spy echo and Jorge Diaz the resident sweetheart and ‘ muscle’ of the crew Cisco Renaldo. The return also includes guest stars Similce Diesel, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Manish Dayal, Jimmy Tatro, Carlos Alazraqui, Eric Bauza and Grey Griffin.
Thus Spy Racer takes the young minds on an explosive ride that mirrors the adult franchise while maintaining the integrity, allowing kids to experience Fast and Furious in a safe way.
