The second season of Narcos focuses on Felix Gallardo’s downfall as the leader of the Mexico drug cartels, as well as those involved in the dealings. But who was the real Mimi Web and what has happened to her?
The second season of Narcos has featured several characters including the Texan Mimi Web. First introduced shooting at Felix’s men after Acosta did not show for drug lord’s birthday party, Mimi goes on to play a big role in the series.
She even liaised with the DEA agent Walt Breslin in an attempt to get them both out when she found that she was pregnant. However, the plan failed when the FBI got involved and Acosta got killed in a raid.
The character if Mimi was based on a real woman who acted as a consultant on the series. The real Mimi is the niece of former US senator John Tower and worked as a border agent.
This is how she came up to meet the real Acosta and then the two began dating after her marriage fell apart.
The couple stayed together until Acosta’s death in 1987 when he was killed in a shootout with the Mexican authorities in a cross border raid. Mimi had realized that she was the last person to see him alive.
Following Acosta’s death, she fled to California after becoming a target thanks to the information she knew about the cartels. Known as Mimi Web Miller, the real woman spoke to The New York Times back in the year 2014 about her life.
She told the publication how she now leads tourists around the towns of Northern Mexico. She said that Acosta was no the most handsome man but he was a strong guy with a lot of charisma.
Mimi went on and said that “I think that Pablo loved me because I loved Mexico.”
