Ant-Man actor Michael Douglas took to Instagram to tease the likelihood of an announcement from Marvel Studios about the massively tiny franchise.
If Michael Douglas is to be believed, news regarding Ant-Man 3 might be coming soon. Like his father before him, Michael Douglas may be a legend in Hollywood.
From his youth on The Streets of San Francisco to his heyday as a Hollywood actor, Douglas quickly cemented himself as an influential player within the film and media industries, a fact too that his Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and Emmy can attest.
In recent years, Douglas is best known for his role within the MCU, playing the hot-headed Dr. Hank Pym in the acclaimed Ant-Man films.
Across the two Ant-Man movies and a fast supporting role in Avengers: Endgame, Douglas has become an endearing figure in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, and audiences are eager to learn when he – and therefore the remainder of the Ant-Man cast – will return for further adventures.
When questions were asked regarding Ant-Man 3, Douglas stopped in need of showing information, comedically saying that Marvel might send someone to shoot him within the neck with a blowgun if he speaks out of turn.
However, he did tease the thought of Marvel Studios announcing something soon, which eager fans should “hang tight.”
Ant-Man 3 is in development at Marvel Studios, but the MCU is keeping its plans somewhat guarded compared to previous eras within the studio’s history.
The MCU slate is merely clear through 2022, with the shorter Phase 4 expected to affect the fallout from Avengers: Endgame, much within the way Phase 2 (and the various Netflix shows) were set within the aftermath of the Battle of latest York as seen in 2012’s The Avengers.
Director Payton Reed is about to return for Ant-Man 3, and Rick & Morty scribe Jeff Loveness has been brought on board to craft the script, but the film is currently without a release date.
Traditionally, Ant-Man films have always released within the immediate wake of an Avengers team-up movie.
All credits to relatively have lower stakes and contain comedic touch, the Ant-Man movie franchise works effectively for counter-programming to the epic and grandiose Avengers movies, cleansing the path in time for the next big film.
It’s unknown if Ant-Man 3 will still follow this pattern or if Marvel Studios will attempt something new with the franchise.
Either way, audiences around the world are eagerly awaiting the continued adventures of Ant-Man, The Wasp, Luis, and therefore the remainder of the gang.
