Jill Biden Pushes for More Vaccination Sites for Children

On Monday, first lady Jill Biden and US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy will launch a campaign to increase the number of Covid-19 immunization sites for youngsters.

The campaign is part of a nationwide effort to boost vaccinations for the nation’s youngest candidates.

“The First Lady will visit pediatric Covid-19 vaccination clinics around the country in the coming weeks,” a White House official says.

Due to this, School Superintendents and Elementary School Principals have received the letter too.

The US HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona wrote to school superintendents and principals on Monday:

“We encourage you to do everything you can to help parents and families understand about the vaccination and have access to it,” the secretaries said in the letter.

Officials have confirmed that the Biden administration is also encouraging school-based immunization clinics.

Currently, almost 20,000 vaccination stations are presently open for children aged 5 to 11, indicating a willingness to expand.

“As we ramp up next week, finding a local facility and arranging an appointment will become increasingly simple.”

According to a White House official, the first lady and surgeon general’s aim is to boost family access to immunization facilities.

These school-based vaccination clinics are beneficial and are urging states and localities to embrace them.

Biden and Murthy Will Visit Franklin Sherman Elementary School

Biden and Murthy will be visiting Franklin Sherman Elementary School in adjacent McLean, Virginia, on Monday, where the polio vaccine was first administered in 1954.

The first lady and the surgeon general will meet with schoolchildren and local officials at a pediatric Covid-19 immunization clinic in almost 70 years.

A week earlier, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky authorized Pfizer’s two-dose Covid-19 vaccination for children aged 5 to 11.

Lady Biden’s tour will include “schools, hospitals, and other community facilities that offer pediatric Covid-19 vaccinations,” the White House stated.
