Season 5 of Netflix’s La casa de Papel (Money Heist)
From being disgusted at Arturo’s (Enrique Arce) shameful tactics and committing a heinous crime of rape to be agitated at Raquel Murillo aka Lisbon (Itziar Ituño) getting caught, then finally being rescued by the Professor and leading her into the Bank of Spain with the help of the gang, along with some new members.
And from being furious at Gandiá (José Manuel Poga) for being so troublesome and wicked, to being left heartbroken on the death of Nairobi, who has become a fan-favourite. She was shot in the head by Gandiá.
Fans were left on the edge of their seats in each and every episode!
And then comes the insane cliffhanger, where viewers see Inspector, Alicia Sierra, holding a gun to the Professor’s head before saying “checkmate, you son of a b***h” and it all cuts to black.
Now, fans are desperate to see how the gang will get out of the sticky situation they’ve got themselves in.
According to a Spanish site Marca, the Netflix hit will get a fifth and sixth season. And although it seems that fans will have to settle in for a long wait, but they will be rewarded with not one but two new seasons.
The site reports that a renewal agreement was made with Netflix before the fourth season dropped.
In an interview, script coordinator Javier Gómez Santander, told El Mundo: “With La Casa De Papel, we go game by game, like Simeone. Chapter by chapter, sequence by sequence, line by line.
We do not ever consider how long the show can last. If we got to know the scope of the phenomenon, we wouldn’t have thought to kill Berlin.”
Although, Netflix has not renewed the show for a new season yet, as it usually takes a month before announcing further seasons, depending on how successful a series has been.
Meanwhile, the show’s creator, Alex Pina, has hinted fans could see a series of spin-offs of the show.
Alex Pina explained: “We do have many possibilities for some spinoffs, yes, and I think that’s thanks to the strong and powerful identities of the characters.
“We’ve always looked for characters to have a very complex, layered design.”
He continued to Oprah Magazine detailing which characters he would like to explore further.
Alex teased: “I think Arturito could have a black comedy.”
“Berlin’s case for his own show is very clear; he’s a misogynist, a psychopath, egocentric, a narcissist, a delinquent, a rapist.”
“But still there are lots of people who adore him, because he values friendship, loyalty or fraternity.”
“From Nairobi to El Profesor…Denver is yet another character with his own charm. I would love to write all of them as spinoffs!”
While Alex is keen for spin-offs, it seems season five would come first.
Season 4 dropped after around 9 months of season 3 and therefore, fans were expecting the next season to be released by the end of this year but unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic it looks like the series, which is filmed in Spain, will be delayed as filming is halted all around the world.
Money Heist season 1-4 is available to stream on Netflix now.
