His Dark Materials Season 2: Release Date And Know The All Details

Due to the new BBC adaptation of Philip Pullman’s iconic books, you don’t need the Subtle Knife to escape into the other world this autumn — because his Dark Materials is coming again!

Starring Dafne Keen and Amir Wilson as Lyra and Will, two kids on a quest across multiple realities, the new episodes follow from a successful first season in 2019 and look set to bring some critical fantasy charm as the nights grow colder.

Expect Spectres, CittĂ gazze, a witch-war, and plenty of interdimensional travel when the seven-episode show comes to BBC One this November — and that is just for starters.

“In season one, we’d a witch. In season two, we’d witches, and we’ve got angels,” executive producer Jane Tranter said. “In season one, Lyra was moving north in search of Roger and has been intrigued by Dust. In season two, Lyra will other worlds to look for Dust and is grieving for Roger.

“So what’s just kind of expanding and building…There are many new personalities and excitements.”

And you don’t need an altimeter to learn what to expect — just check out all of the crucial details below.

His Dark Materials Season 2 Release Date

His Dark Materials Season 2 is scheduled to hit HBO on Monday, November 16 at 9/8c.

Even though HBO’s early renewal for the series this past year came with a November 2020 window, the particular date where it will broadcast was recently revealed, also promoting the fact that Season 2 episodes are also available to stream upon their weekly premieres on HBO Max.

His Dark Materials Season 2 Details

In the His Dark Materials Season 1 finale, Lyra (Dafne Keen) still reeling over a friend’s death, follows Asriel into the unknown where she runs into Will (Amir Wilson), a boy who also crossed into an alternate universe and is running out of trouble from our planet. Lyra and Will will spend the majority of their time in the city of CittĂ gazze in Season 2. Meanwhile, the malevolent Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) is decided to bring Lyra home regardless of what it takes. The trailer also shows Father MacPhail (Will Keen) rousing the Magisterium to warfare against the witches.

Witches have always known more than they need to, the trailer clarifies, and here’s what audiences must catch upon. The trailer also gives us our first, long look at the Spectres, otherworldly creatures who feast on the souls of adults. It also introduces us to Terence Stamp’s new personality, Giacomo Paradisi, the bearer of the Subtle Knife, which may cut openings between worlds.

Additionally linking His Dark Materials for Season 2, are Jade Anouka (Turn Up Charlie), Simone Kirby (Peaky Blinders), and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag). Andrew Scott, who performs Jopari, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby, Ruth Wilson, Amir Wilson, Ariyon Bakare, Will Keen, and Ruta Gedmintas is returning.

His Dark Materials Season 1 followed Lyra, a typical young woman from another world who’s searching for her very best friend Roger (Lewin Lloyd) along with other regional children who’ve been kidnapped. In her search, she finds a conspiracy of child abductions and sets out to find out about a phenomenon known as Dust.

The young adult fiction source material for its HBO series has always had a problematic relationship with the church, particularly when it comes to original sin. The Catholic Herald Named Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials book trilogy”the stuff of nightmares” and much more”worthy of the bonfire” compared to Harry Potter. Pullman made his publication include the quotation on the book sleeve as an endorsement.
