Harry Potter is one of the best-loved books for the children in the 20th and 21st century. The main question is how many books are in the canon??Harry Potter

JK Rowling is that author who has brought the best children characters in recent time. The books are super amazing. When the books adapted as the movies then everything changed. All over the world, people were loving the movies. After that, you also get online games, spin-off series and many more things. It changed the taste of movies within the people. It started a new era of movies. It started with the first book of the Harry Potter series released on June 26, 1997. It was named Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. After that, it became a trend in the industry.  The second book got a release on July 28, 1998. It was named Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The third book was released on July 8, 1999. The name of the book was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The fourth book was released on July 8, 2000. The name of that book was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

From here the books were adapted as movies.

The first movie in the first book was released in 2001

The fifth book was released on June 21, 2003. It was named as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The sixth book was released on July 16, 2005. It was named Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The seventh book was released on July 21, 2007. The name of this book was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The eighth book was released on July 31, 2016. The name of this book was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

The movies were made on all the books except the last one that was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

  1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

  6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Each of these books is adapted as a movie. The last book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was split into two parts as the movie. The first one called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and the second one is called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

In the year of 2001, JK Rowling released a spin-off book named as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages. Here is the first book about the textbook from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the second book Harry loved to read in the school.

All the profits from the books were given to Comic Relief. In 2007, JK Rowling wrote another book named as The Tales of the Beedle the Bard, a collection of fairy tales. This book was read by Hermione in school. 

In 2008, JK also wrote a short prequel which tells more about the wizarding world. It was written as a part of Waterstones fundraiser

In 2015, the story of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was revealed. After that, it was written by Jack Thorne based on a story from Rowling. This book focuses on the incidents of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow. With this book, the Harry Potter novels were ended. In 2016, some of the other books came out as the final spin-offs such as Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide; Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists; and Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies.

So, there are 14 novels in the canon.
