We have followed Rocinante’s improbable family go on adventure after adventure in the ever-expanding solar system and beyond, and after the significant drama of The Expanse’s recently released fifth season, everybody is wondering the identical thing: where would be Holden and Naomi and Bobbie and their buds going following??? Can they finally find out how that ancient alien species made the protomolecule? Will the people of Earth, Mars, and the Belt finally colonize a new world? Can Chrisjen Avasarala finally become queen of the entire world, as she deserves? Surely all these questions will be answered in another season, but will the show have been coming back for another round? And, if so, what will it be around?
Has Got The Expanse been renewed for Season 6? Yes! Amazon Prime revived the series for a sixth season before the premiere of Season 5. When will Season 6 premiere? There’s no premiere date yet for Season 6 of The Expanse, but rumour has it that the series will begin filming on January 20. That could mean the next December premiere for the series, which Amazon was doing frequently since they took over production.
Can it be the final season? So far, that seems to be the situation. In Amazon’s renewal announcement, the company made clear that Season 6 would be the final season as far as they’re concerned. The co-head of tv at Amazon Studios, Vernon Sanders, said that Season 6 could give the longtime fans of this show”the satisfying conclusion to the series that they deserve” HMMMM. However, showrunner Naren Shankar told Entertainment Weekly that there are always a chance for the show to keep going: “What I will say is that there are much more to tell and I am sure Ty and Daniel [Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham, who jointly write the book shows under the pen name James S. A. Corey] would say the same thing. But yeah, that’s probably about as much as I could say at this point.” That is no!
The series has escaped death once before, when Amazon Prime rescued it after it was cancelled after three seasons from its original home network Syfy. In another chat with EW, Dominique Tipper, who performs Naomi Nagata, hinted that there’s always a chance it might go on. “Look, this is the conclusion of the TV series on Amazon,” she explained. “So, we will just have to see what happens.”
The main novel series consists of eight novels, with a ninth planned for release in 2021 which will finish the sequence. Currently airing Season 5 relies on the fifth book Nemesis Games, whilst Season 6 will probably focus on the sixth, dramatically titled Babylon’s Ashes.
What is it about? If you don’t want spoilers for the events of Season 5, we suggest you skip this part, but most of Babylon’s Ashes targets the battle between the newly-created Free Navy, composed of a fleet of rogue Belter ships, and the coalition that shakily exists between Earth, Mars, and the Asteroid Belt. When the Free Navy turns its attention to decimating the colony ships led into the Ring worlds, and who but the ragtag crew of the Rocinante can save them? Who will be in the cast? Everybody in the main cast from the previous seasons is set to come back including Steven Strait as James Holden, Tipper, Wes Chatham as Amon Burton, Shohreh Aghdashloo as Chrisjen Avasarala, and Frankie Adams as Bobbie Draper. Not returning is Cas Anvar, who played with Martian pilot Alex Kamal for the first five seasons, and that disappointingly was the subject of several sexual misconduct claims that were investigated over summer 2020. Amazon has not said whether his role will be recast. Who else will be involved? Naren Shankar, the showrunner since the beginning, will also be back.
