Han has made the appearance in the trailer of Fast and Furious 9. He is one of the important members of the Fast and Furious gang, but his original story was already told before he joined the furious family- in Better Luck Tomorrow.
In light of Sung Kang’s surprising re-emergence in the furious 9 trailers, the fans are curious now more than that ever about his character in the long-running, car-centric, billion-dollar Fast and Furious franchise.
Han had made his debut in The fast and furious: Tokyo Drift where he was initially introduced as Sean Boswell’s mentor. At the end of the film, he was believed to have died after he was the target of the car collision. In the seventh edition of the series, it was revealed that Owen Shaw’s brother Deckard Shaw was responsible for Han’s death as a part of his revenge against Dom’s crew.
How did Han return in Furious 9?
Han is an extremely important character for Justin Lin, not only he helmed all the fast and furious films in which Han appeared but because Han is his brainchild. Justin Lin previously introduced the character back in the year 2002 Asian American focussed film Better Luck Tomorrow.
Both Justin Lin and Kang have openly said that they consider the movie Better Luck tomorrow and Fast and Furious’ version of Han to be the same person. There was no plan to have Han in Tokyo Drift. But instead, the director called the actor to read for Sean Boswell. Soon he realized that he wanted Han in the series of Fast and Furious.
Narrative wise Han then went to Mexico to visit Dom, their first encounter was tackled in Fast and Furious second short film. The project was directed, co-produced and co-written by Vin Diesel. Then Dom and Han start teaming up together.
