Is GTA 6 on its own way? That does not stop those of us hungry while another instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise is yet to be officially announced by its developer Rockstar.
Now that a large part of us have traipsed through the stunning world of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC or console and gamers are awaiting the next open-world Rockstar game.
It has been an entire seven years because GTA 5 started on consoles, meaning that an announcement may be imminent, and the latest news and rumors indicate that GTA 6 might be on its way sometime soon — likely landing the upcoming PS5 and Xbox collection X consoles.
Although 2020 is still in its early days, a launch this season does not look likely notably. But with the next generation of consoles coming at the tail end of the year expects are climbing that we may hear something from Rockstar at some point.
Details could be thin on the ground, but that does not stop us gathering together the pieces of reality, rumor and gossip for your personal pleasure. Here’s everything we know thus far about GTA 6.
GTA 6 release date
Red Dead Redemption 2 has been in the wild for more than a year, which means we are trusting a GTA 6 announcement is not far away — even though we’re inclined to be waiting some time to play it.
According to some rumorswe can observe the Grand Theft Auto announced in 2020, using a release in 2021, which would make sense considering we’re heading into a new generation by the end of 2020. However, Rockstar has been concentrated on becoming up Red Dead Online and running which could have redirected attention, not to mention the potential delays potentially due to the death of Dan Houser from Rockstar.
According to industry analyst Michael Pachter that is reputable, the real release of the game might be as far away as 2022. In an interview with Gaming Bolt, Pachter said that he thinks although a 2021 statement using a 2022 launch or later would be more inclined a 2020 announcement using a 2021 release are the best case scenario.
Given 2020 has only just begun, expecting any news of GTA 6 is not likely. But the Xbox Series X and PS5 are due to release in the end of the year also if GTA 6 followed the launch pattern of its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5, then it’d be released at the very tail end of their present generation, comfortably released on the new generation and straddle both for the widest install base possible.
With no announcement so far that seems optimistic but anything could happen.
