From the trailer for its premiere, Station 19’s Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) and Pompeo gave fans a taste of what to expect: “It’s a war zone and we’re the ones on the front. Considering all the lives in demand, our world is ablaze. What we’re up against today is unlike anything that came before. Occasionally it seems like there’s no end in sight.
“We will not quit fighting. We won’t stop feeling. Because sometimes, most of us need rescuing.”
Official synopses also have been released by Vernoff (via TVLine).
In episode one, titled all Tomorrow’s Parties’, we’ll see how Covid has influenced Grey Sloan.
“It is all hands on deck [and] a whole new world for our hospital and all of our characters,” explained Vernoff.
In episode two,’The Centre Won’t Hold’, here’s what we can anticipate: “Bailey finds herself in the middle of a debate with individuals’ families as they await news about their kids who were injured.”
Also, we are aware that it’ll concentrate on Teddy, Winston, Amelia, and Link.
Talking on The Hollywood Reporter’s Top Ten podcast, Vernoff reported that originally, she didn’t wish to include the pandemic, presuming that viewers were fatigued from the ordeal: “I spent the entire hiatus kicking it around, and I came into the writers’ room believing that I had decided that we were not going to take action.
“They truly convinced me that it would be irresponsible not to. To be sort of the biggest medical show and ignore the largest medical story of the century felt unkind to them to the health community.
“These doctors are traumatized. They aren’t trained or wired to maintain the palms of dying people all day that are alone without their families”
Giacomo advised Entertainment Tonight that the season begins”about a month and a half [into] total COVID, adding: “It is going to take place a little beyond where we left off in the past season…We’re not picking up where we left off”
And although not all the stories that were planned for the end of year 16 will feature in the upcoming chapter, Vernoff told TVLine that audiences”will have to see some of the immediate moments from where we left off”.
She added: “There was great material we had already shot but didn’t get an opportunity to the atmosphere, [therefore ] we discovered a way to construct it into our premiere.”
DeLuca’s Bipolar disorder is 1 storyline which will be explored further.
A love triangle has also developed between Meredith, DeLuca, and Cormac Hayes, and Pompeo has cautioned that there’s going to be”a fresh favorite couple”, but didn’t say who.
In terms of Owen and Teddy, their connection is well and truly on the stones following Owen found what had occurred between his wife-to-be and Tom Koracick (Greg Germann).
