Nupur Asthana has earned a lot of praise for her stint as a director in Four More Shots Please 2 but after that also she is extremely happy as she passes on the baton to Tannishtha Chatterjee for next season of the show.

Nupur Asthana had barely imagined that the edition when she had joined the team of Four More Shots Please for its sophomore season as she had developed it under her watchful eyes. The show went on to become the most-watched Indian show on Amazon Prime of the year so far.

The directorial duties were taken by her from Anu Menon, Nupur Asthana says that her core motive was to make the characters very relatable. She further stated that “Since all 10 episodes of the show were to be directed by me so no blueprint was followed by me while storytelling. It is a fashion-forward show, so, the girls will be well-dressed, but my aim was to make them more real and relatable for the audience.

The show touched on various women related issues such as body shaming and workplace gender inequality. The protagonists of the show are Kirti Kulhari, Sayani Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo and Bani J. The director gives equal credit for the success of the show to the writers as well as the crew who were all women. “I went forward with my gut. My crew and cast did several workshops, we had free-flowing chats then and bared our hearts out in front of everyone. That made things easier for me.

The third season of the show will be directed by actor-director Tannishtha Chatterjee. “The Amazon Prime and creator Rangita Nandy wanted me to direct the third season too, but I was exhausted and I required time to recharge my batteries. So, it’s good that a new director has been roped as it would be essential to give the show a fresh look.
