The production on the new Batman is soon beginning and we know that a new actor, Robert Pattinson is portraying the Dark Knight. The fans are also gaining more insight into what had happened to the last man to play its role, Ben Affleck. Ben reprised the character of Batman in Dawn of Justice and also Justice League as well as cameoing in Suicide Squad. Then after he left the role and recently the actor revealed that his struggles with alcoholism had convinced him to end his time as Batman.
Now, the actor is revealing another reason why he ultimately hung up his Batman cowl. In an exclusive interview at The Way Back junket with Cinemablend’s own Mike Reyes, Ben told us that he thinks big blockbusters are cool and they are great. But they are not that fun to make on a practical level. He thinks that the workload is very long and they are very compartmentalized.
As far as reasons to hang up the cowl go, this is a pretty good one even if is kind of sad at the same time. When it comes to his alcoholism, Ben Affleck told Mike that he hung up on Batman because he had simply fallen out of love with playing the character and acting in these types of Hollywood big blockbuster films as The Batman would have been.
While the blockbuster films are fun to watch and the actor is not going all Martin Scorsese and decrying their existence, he admitted that the process of making them is not always very enjoyable. The way he describes the making sounds like an absolute slog that can beat you down and that when you are in that kind of grind, it is always difficult to stay motivated and feel excited and passionate about the character and the project as well.
