The appearance of Professor McGonagall in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has raised many questions amongst the Fandom. Young Minerva McGonagall is seen teaching at Hogwarts in 1927 in Fantastic Beasts 2.
The scene has raised multiple eyebrows because McGonagall was not born until 1927 and the appearance in the same year is shown.
McGonagall is found to be a professor at the school, managing a group of students on its premises.
In her biography, McGonagall’s date of birth is stated as October 4, 1935. This happened eight years after the events of Fantastic Beasts 2.
Her entry had been removed but the current scene states that she stills student to Dumbledore, under whose guidance she had managed to become an Animagus.
So if she were born in 1935 and started teaching in the 1950s, her current appearance is seemingly impossible to happen technically.
Harry Potter has Time-Turners that have been known for traveling back and forth on time.
But it still does not stand for McGonagall’s current status. Therefore, such a thing cannot happen and no actual reasons have been found yet.
There is also a possibility that the McGonagall in the discussion isn’t Minerva. It might be her relative.
But that is not the case either since the screenplay has confirmed that it was Minerva herself.
Nevertheless, this left fans disappointed with this unexplainable twist. The makers might have forgotten that Harry Potter fans pay attention to detail more than they ever could put into the story.
