Everything you need to know about The Handmaid’s Tale and the recently upcoming season 4.

The Handmaid’s Tale is a popular Hulu series based on the book of the same name published in 1985 written by a Canadian writer Margaret Atwood. It explores the theme of subjugated women in a patriarchal society and the various means by which these women resist and attempt to gain individuality and independence.

It is structured into two parts, by night and by various events and can be interpreted as a double narrative.

The Handmaid’s Tale was turned into a series as it premiered as a Hulu original with 36 episodes on 26th April 2017. The story opens, depicting the story of June, fertile women, living as a concubine to a Gileadan officer and his wife. While she is forced to agree to their strict rules and regulations, she hopes to be free and United with her daughter.

The series has three seasons and recently it’s upcoming fourth season was announced by the creators of this dystopian drama. The season 4 of the series is expected to return on Hulu with another dramatic outing.

Following on from the cliffhanger of season three, the new series is anticipated to pick up with June Osborne as she is forced to face the consequences of her action. While the children managed to escape and make the journey to Canada, Serena is arrested and has a considerable impact on her future.

Even though there is no official release date for its 4th season, one of the editors of the show, Wendy Hallam- Martin, revealed in Mayday, the production of The Handmaid’s Tale will not begin until March, which leads the viewers to believe that the series will be delayed until later in 2020.

Moreover, the majority of the leading cast is expected to return for the next season. The cast includes Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne, Yvonne Strahovski as Serena Joy and Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia. No trailer has been released yet which also leads us to believe that possibly it’s because the filming might have begun.
