Much like Skins before it, Euphoria caused controversy for its depiction of a large school world filled with sex, drugs, and violence when it arrived on screens in America in June 2019. But while some were stunned by it, it became an instant hit, its explorations of issues including addiction, sexuality, and misuse has given space to be raw, gritty, and real. The Zendaya-starring series was verified to be returning for another season, long before season 1’s cliffhanger finish unfurled. This is what we understand about Euphoria season 2 so far.
When will Euphoria season 2 be released?
No official launch date was announced at present although HBO has confirmed a season. However, HBO says it will be published in 2020 [through Teen Vogue]. It should air in June with a UK premiere to follow in August, in the US if it follows the same pattern as season 1 however.
Where will Euphoria season 2 be shown in the UK?
The details have yet to be confirmed but expect it to be much the same as season 1, i.e. on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
Have we seen a trailer yet?
Type of — the first look at Season 2 of Euphoria was shared as part of HBO’s big 2020 trailer. It’s since been removed offline.
Although not a formal trailer, but celebrity Sydney Sweeney resisted the yield of a handful of important characters on Instagram in the Golden Globes. No Zendaya insight, but there’s still chances she will be on board.

Will Zendaya be in the new season?
Literally just got the call. Can’t say thank you enough for the support we’ve seen, wow… https://t.co/XJtdQaWaL9

There’s the question of her character Rue would feature from another batch of episodes. The season one finalé of Euphoria was certainly ambiguous and left a lot of audiences with the impression that she had overdosed and died. However, creator Sam Levinson has confirmed she’s very much still alive and”includes a big journey ahead of her”.
Who else will return for season 2?
There’s no official confirmation of who will reunite yet but, besides Zendaya, it appears likely that many, if not all, of the main characters, will be present in season 2. We’ll be seeing more of Fezco, together with Levinson telling The Hollywood Reporter: “His story didn’t belong in season, it goes in year two.”
“Going into year two know who these characters are, so the possibilities of it turned into pretty arousing from a writing and filmmaking perspective,” the show’s creator added, falling another hint that we will see the first year’s characters opened up much more.
Will there be any new characters?
Yup! A casting call for season two has revealed a new set of Euphoria personalities (and you can audition for them too if you like). Have a look at the details of the characters.
DARIAN: Male. 18+ to play 17. Any ethnicity. An outsider. Sensitive. Vulnerable. Mischievous. Could battle with addiction. Not the cool kid at college but one of the very intriguing children.
RAY: Man. 18+ to perform 17. Any ethnicity. Attractive in a real and accessible way. Working-class. Pure heart. Might be heading nowhere in life but includes a smile so real it’s not depressing. Scrappy but a fighter. Educated or not verbose — has.
AMI: Female. 18-20’s. Drug addict. Stripper. Hates her boyfriend. Talks shit. Can’t read a room. It can make a terrible situation worse.
SERENA: Female. 50’s+. Sassy and demanding. A character that is true. The type of girls who attended now and each White Snake concert she and partied her whole life has different hustles to earn a living.
