Ellis Chapman returns to Emmerdale on Thursday 12th December with Aaron Anthony making his first role following the sacking of original actor Asan N’Jie earlier this year.
Scandal hit the ITV soap in September when Asan was involved in a francas with the Hollyoaks star Jaime Lomas at the TV Choice Awards, leading to his contract being terminated with immediate effect and an apology from the actor over his aggressive behaviour.
The character of Ellis was swiftly written out and it was dispatched to a very much new job in Dubai after clashing with dodgy dad Al Chapman (Michael Wildman), which was secretly organised by their half-sibling Billy Fletcher named Jay Kontzle to get his brother away from his own untrustworthy father. Asan’s final scene aired on 18th October which was one month earlier than this.
A few weeks later the decision to recast the part was announced to everyone, when Anthony familiar to viewers from Sky One Drama Delicious said that he know Ellis is a good and a well loved character and now he is looking forward to continue his journey and all that’s in the store for him.
Ellis unexpectedly returns to the village and that is just in time to stop Billy and Al taking a swing at each other. The rivals are said to have been working together now at the moment, but it’s far from a harmonious professional partnership.
On Friday that was 13th December, Ellis is seen picking up another storyline that is forcibly abandoned by his sharp autumn exit when the character explains his absence to Belle Dingle. The pair was on a verge of a very high romance, so did Emmerdale writers merely paused plans for a good relationship to develop between them while Ellis is away.
