While launch dates are often easy to forecast when it comes to network shows, Doctor Who can be as erratic as the Doctor herself.
Earlier resurrection seasons tended to launch in April or March, but all bets were off once the Peter Capaldi era started. Whittaker’s most recent series called season 12, kicked off on January 1, 2020, so don’t anticipate season 13 to arrive until early 2021 at the oldest.
Doctor Who season 13 cast:
Besides Christopher Eccleston, every Doctor in today’s age has stuck around for three seasons, and we have confirmation that Jodie Whittaker will perform the same.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, the thirteenth Doctor revealed that she is returning for another round at the TARDIS:
“I am doing another season. That might be an enormous exclusive that I’m not supposed to say, but it’s unhelpful to me to say [I don’t know] because it would be a huge lie! It is not, although, at some point, these shoes are going to be passed on. I’m clinging on tight!”
What we do not know yet is if this edition of the Doctor will nevertheless be connected by her three companions, Graham (Bradley Walsh), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Yaz (Mandeep Gill). Though the trio has accompanied Whittaker on all of her experiences up to now, there’s still a chance that at least one of them could leave the TARDIS for drops that are good at the time 13.
