Deadpool 3 In Development At Marvel Studios, Confirms Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds confirmed that Deadpool 3 is being developed at Marvel Studios, although several other details are not available at this time.

Ryan Reynolds confirmed that Deadpool 3 is currently under development at Marvel Studios. Before Disney’s takeover of this year’s 20th Century Fox, it was officially stated that Dutch Without a Dutch House would be the only X-Men character to not reboot. That train of thought noted how successful the first two Deadpool films were. Despite their R-ratings, they are X-Men films grossing $ 1.5 billion at the worldwide box office. Listeners have responded to the series, so Disney is going to keep things.

While this is all well and good, it is well when the filmmakers see that the question of Deadpool staying high. During San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Marvel Studios unveiled its Phase 4 slate and confirmed other films in which Fantastic Four and X-Men were working. But all are relatively quiet on the Deadpool front – save for the news that the spinoff X-Force was planning. Back in October, Reynolds teased a meeting with Marvel Studios, and now it looks like things are in motion to put together another Deadpool film.

Reynolds obviously can’t tell too far, but it’s encouraging to hear. Even though Deadpool 3 is still in the early stages, it shows that Disney is indeed ready to continue the hit series. It will be interesting to see if the Deadpool franchise is integrated into a larger MCU or if it operates as a separate entity. Over the summer, the report stated that Disney was debating the possibility of Deadpool being an alternate between R-rated solo films and PG-13 MCU team-ups.

One of the benefits of Deadpool being under the same umbrella as the Avengers is the opportunity for fun character interactions that fans would love to see onscreen. Unfortunately, viewers will never see Wade Wilson’s trade with Tony Stark, but it will still be entertaining to watch Deadpool cross paths like Spider-Man, as he did in the comics.

Day 3 lights can be seen in Deadpool but there is no word yet, but in all likelihood, the film is still a few years away. Marvel’s Phase 4 (which also includes a full slate of Disney + TV shows) is plotted through 2021. By that point, Marvel will probably have more and more ideas of what they are going to do with their newly inherited Fox properties and have a plan for Deadpool, the X-Men, and more.
