Tomorrow, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s highly anticipated Season 1 update will finally arrive across all platforms.
Billed from Activision as”the biggest free material drop in Call of Duty background,” Season 1 will offer players several new options to keep playing.
On the eve of the introduction of Season 1, Activision has released a new trailer, teasing a number of the new additions to the match.
The trailer should get fans excited. The launch of Season 1 will probably be accompanied by three new multiplayer maps (Crash, Vacant and Shipment) as well as a new Ground War map (Port).
Players will have two weapons to engage enemies with well: the Ram-7 and also the Holger-26, the former of which was emphasized in the new trailer.
There will also be three new multiplayer modes (Reinforce, Gunfight OSP and Infected) and lots of Special Ops Experiences.
Of course, all that material does come with a slight trade-off, and that’s in the form of the game’s slightly controversial “rank refresh.” Once the new year kicks off, all Modern Warfare players that have reached Officer Status (over Rank 56) will have their Ranks turned back into Rank 55.
All weapons and patterns, such as the Hush for attaining Rank 56 and the O.G. for reaching Rank 155, will be retained.
People who never completed their advancement throughout the Enlisted Ranks (Ranks 1-55) will realize that the experience remains the same in Season 1, but people who left it to the Officer Rank will find 100 new ribbons to acquire through fresh challenges as they make their way back into Rank 155.
Over the past couple of days, Activision was running a Dual XP occasion to support players trying to achieve Rank 155 ahead of the cut-off.
Some will find the effort redundant given the refresh but, because Ranks and ribbons will be locked and memorialized, it will make for some bragging rights for those Modern Warfare players that have managed to accomplish that particular aim.
