The latest episode of Better Call Saul season 5 shows that Gus Fring visits a memorial fountain with the inscription ‘Dedicado A-Max’ – so who the hell is Max?
Located within a village in Mexico, there is a memorial fountain in the center of the town. But who is this Max that has been mentioned in the inscription that his memorial would warrant a visit from the mob boss Gustavo Fring?
Better Call Saul season 5 has shown like Mike Ehrmantraut distancing himself from Gus Fring’s drug empire after Fring ordered him to kill the German engineer, Werner Zeigler. Weighed down by the guilt and the mistakes of his past, Mike got into a fight with a local gang and was stabbed and left for dead after the encounter.
Now, during the latest episode, Mike woke up in a scheduled Mexican village where he was patched up by one of Gus Fring’s associates Barry Goodman, a doctor who is a member of Gus’ emergency medical team. Visiting the village where Mike is recovering, Gus tries to recruit Mike once more to come and work for him, alluding to Mike’s appreciation for revenge.
As the memorial fountain with the placard reading Dedicated to Max is shown standing between them, the notion of revenge may remind Breaking Bad fans of max’s identity and also his connection to Gus Fring.
Max was Gus Fring’s business partner and also the chef behind their co-owned restaurant chain Los pollos Hermanos. Rescuing him from the slums of Santiago, Gus had funded Max’s education in Chemistry, which gave him the knowledge of cooking meth on the side apart from their day jobs as restauranters.
Well, there is so much story to learn about the character of Gus Fring since the beginning. His character has been the silent badass character in the Breaking Bad series and the fans loved him for that.
