Last year in May, actor Robert Pattinson landed the role of Bruce Wayne for the upcoming Matt Reeves directed flick The Batman.
This had meant that he was taking the reigns from Ben Affleck who had played the iconic character since 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ben Affleck hadn’t spoken publicly about the decision to pass the iconic role onto Robert. That changed during his latest press junket.
Before Matt opted for the re-cast of the titular role for The Batman, Ben had written a script for a new Batman movie that could have seen the actor reprising the role.
However, he explained that after doing Dawn of Justice and The Justice League- plus his appearance in Suicide Squad- he then lost his passion for the iconic role.
The 47-year-old actor did mention the fact that Robert Pattinson was now the new Batman, and the Oscar winner made it clear that he was a huge fan. Ben said that Robert is a great star and he thinks that Robert is going to be great in The Batman.
Pattinson Fears The paparazzi
After his experience with the paparazzi and the fan obsession during his time starring in the Twilight Saga, Robert opted for much smaller roles in independent films. For the past few years, the actor has chosen challenging roles that allowed him to focus on his craft.
The actor reached a level of fame that only a few actors achieve. It made very much sense that he wanted to stay low and also avoid the spotlight after dealing with years of cameras following him everywhere he goes.
Well, this is it, guys. We hope the best for the whole team of The Batman. I can’t wait to watch it on the big screen.
