The Weeknd’s 2020 album, After Hours, is finally here and fans are already raving about it. Following its first release on March 20, dedicated fans took to the audio immediately, parsing through some details about the singer’s, born Abel Tesfaye, 30, life through the beats, lyrics, and general composition. What fans did discover were hints regarding his romances with Selena Gomez, 27, and Bella Hadid, 23. The Weeknd and both women dated for a while over their careers, and we’re breaking the relationships and their timelines to give fans the complete scope of the story.
The”Star Boy” singer began dating Bella in 2015 when they were seen together in May of that year at the Coachella music festival. In December of the same year, the supermodel went on to get a starring role in The Weeknd’s music video for his track” In The Night” off of his record Beauty supporting the Madness. While the duo kept the details of their relationship rather confidential, they were frequently seen and about together and in 2016 left their red carpet look at the 2016 Grammy Awards. By November of that year, the pair went their separate ways due to rigorous work commitments and conflicting schedules.
Not long after his separation with Bella, The Weeknd went on to date”Lose You To Love Me” songstress Selena in January 2017. The duo made a public appearance together, most notably at the 2017 Met Gala where they packed in their outfits on the PDA. Their summer of love gave way to the few. Nevertheless, it was an arrangement, and both went their different ways. Even though their relationship didn’t last long, fans have reason to feel that Selena motivated the tune”Save Your Tears” off of The Weeknd’s latest album. The opening lyric into The Weeknd’s track goes, “I saw you dance in a crowded room,” that could point to one of Selena’s songs on her latest album, Rare, titled”Crowded Room.” The song also goes with lyrics such as, “Take me ’cause I wish to remain,” and”You could’ve asked me why I broke your heart / You could’ve told me that you fell apart.”
But that’s not the tune making fans wonder about the love life of The Weeknd. Following his split with Selena, his relationship revived with Bella Hadid in May 2018, before they called it quits again in 2019. The remnants of the relationship, however, is strewn throughout After Hours, according to enthusiasts. In his tune”Escape From L.A.,” the artist sings, “She got Chrome Hearts hanging from her throat.” Chrome Hearts is, in fact, the name of this streetwear brand Bella has done collaborations with. For its Hellz Bellz Capsule Collection, she’d her most recent venture in December 2019.
