Avatar 2 producer Jon Landau has confirmed sequel will continue throughout the coronavirus pandemic

Avatar two producer Jon Landau has confirmed that all virtual manufacturing on the sequel will probably last throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Many jobs across the entertainment sector have briefly shut down over the last several weeks, such as Mission: Impossible 7 along with the sixth time of Peaky Blinders, however, none of these are being created using the same technology as Avatar two.

In creation that is virtual, there’s no possibility of actors coming into contact with one another, as it’s essentially a set of technicians.

Landau confirmed in a statement that while live-action production was suspended, it’s business as usual for the effects side of things.

“By now you may have heard the news that we postponed another phase of live-action production in New Zealand,” he said. “The health & safety of our AvatarFamily and keeping them near their own families during this period is of utmost importance to us.

“We will keep working on virtual creation in Manhattan Beach and collaborating with Weta Digital to the visual consequences; both tasks are much more conducive to social distancing than live-action photography.

“We are doing our part to flatten the curve and invite you to attempt to do the same. We’ll continue to discuss generation upgrades. Stay well and safe.”
